I saw the car in person at SEMA. I was not impressed.
I think they need to change the people that are doing the marketing surveys.
The ask would you like to haul camping equipment? Surf board? Skis? etc. The answer to that question is always going to be yes, but at the end they should have ask, if you want to haul all that stuff we will have to build a wagon. Will you buy it? Answer is probably No.
Look at the Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Martix, Mazda 5, all targeted at the youth market. Very few youth buy them, and there sales numbers are not very high. The Neon was 11th in sales for passenger cars, car was a very good seller when production ended (source SEMA news). I doubt the Caliber will get near those numbers. Chrysler needs an entry level car for young consumers to buy, to get them as customer so they can sell them something else in the future.

Well, I'm ordering one and I can't wait!!!!! 
I don't give a damn about modding and racing and all that. I like the SUV look. All I need is some leather seats, and some chrome rims, and I'm good to go!! I can't wait!!!
