2008 Caliber Randomly Stalls
I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber i was recently inherited. The first week or so it drove fine, kind of slow at acceleration but it's a 4 cyl. The problem I'm having is it randomly starts stuttering and stalling like its out of gas, then it shuts off. Sometimes it will crank right back up, other times it spits and sputters, usually if i leave it alone for 10 or so minutes it will crank up and drive just fine. Also sometimes I'll be leaving for work after it's sat there all day, get in try to crank it and the spit and sputtering starts for a few minutes before it cranks up and will drive fine, It has only thrown a code twice, both times a MAP sensor, second time it threw the code was after i replaced the MAP sensor.
I had a problem that sounds just like this a few years ago on my 2012. While driving, the engine would just stop. Sometimes I could get it to start up, sometimes I had to wait a bit. I managed to get it home after several stalls and waiting for it work long enough.
For me, it ended up being a crankshaft position sensor. It was easy to replace, cost me like $25. No more issues stalling after that.
