RE: Caliber Engine Specifications
The only thing I don't get is why even bother with so many different engines that are so close in HP, for the non-srt engines it's 3 engines with only 24hp difference between the three, they should just drop the 2.0 and have the 1.8 and 2.4, actualy given the weight of the car they should have the 1.8 base, the 2.4 SXT, a lighter boost turbo 2.4 around 210-220hp for the R/T and then a 275-300hp 2.4 turbo for the SRT as right now all three of the base engines look like they will produce near the same performance for the trim levels they come with, give the power to weight ratio their is hardly a difference between the three, the base SE 1.8L is 20.04 lbs/hp, the SXT 2.0L is 19.23lbs/hp and the awd R/T 2.4 is also 19.23lbs/hp, the fwd R/T will be a bit better at least when it comes out though at 18.35lbs/hp, either way all are going to produce some very slugish numbers.

Then you have the VW Deisel, which is your torque engine... not so much hp, good gas milage... good for those euro people
Then there is the 2.4 R/T, basic sport, more horses... Then the turbo for your "major" performance...
Basically, it;'s just DX offering an engine for everyone and every case... Cheap, gas milage, torque, fast or faster
I really don't see a problem with the way it is...

RE: Caliber Engine Specifications
yeah, but what about the 2.0, same hp/weight ratio as the 2.4 R/T, and anyone who wants more performance really wouldn't be happy with the 2.4 I think either, it's just such a small step up in power, a 10hp difference isn't worth jack honestly, you can get that difference with a different intake or exhaust, no need for a bigger less efficent engine for that small difference, there really should be a good 30hp difference between each, 10hp is just pointless.
basicaly the way it is now your going to have SE 1.8 FWD crummy performance good fuel economy, SXR 2.0 FWD a hair better but still crummy performance and worse fuel economy, R/T 2.4 AWD same performance as the SXT and even worse fuel economy, adding 14hp is a piddly increase and completely pointless when you add another 269lbs to the car doing so.
