Despite what some claim CVTs are not that fuel efficient. Look at the Five Hundred FWD vs. AWD. The FWD has a 6-speed and gets 21/29 the AWD gets ?/26. Now in comparison the 300C/Magnum R/T RWD gets 17/25 vs. AWD versions get ?/24-note do not compare the 3.5L models RWD to AWD because they used different transmissions where as the HEMI has the SAME transmission. If you look at other vehicles CVTs are gas hogs. The Caliber R/T has AWD and the Accord doesn't. This "World Engine" is based on Hyundai blocks and Hyundai engines are very inefficient. The Accord has a 5-speed with a tall gearing. Actually the V-tech vvt systems help the fuel economy, but you are right that it doesn't come close to the actual mileage.
I wish they would offer the caliber with a diesel motor like they will over seas. Course I'm not that brilliant so it could be a terrible thing, but it'd be cool to have a cummins in that small of a package.
I'm confused. You want to campare a Honda Accord with a Dodge Caliber. I was just on the Honda site and could not find an Accord wagon/hatchback. So what are you comparing? The Accord will not haul as much stuff as the Caliber! A better comparison would be the butt ugly Fit.
