It actually uses a Mitsubishi platform. I am yet to find anything on this car that was truely a Dodge design besides the styling and the 41TE.

The Japanese manufactures being "superior" is a myth.

They simply make you replace everything and anything that could go wrong in the service guide and call it regular maintenance

Still waiting for Dodge to come here to Australia with the Caliber but i currently own two Mitsubishis and never had any problems.
So with the Caliber being built on the next gen Lancer platform i dont see to many problems.

I didn't complain about the Mitsubishi platform being unreliable, I was just pointing out that this vehicle not a real Dodge, it is a combination of other manufactures parts. The Lancer platform is a good platform.

Yeah i know you wern't complaing about the Mitsubishi platform being unreliable i was just saying from my own experience owning Mitsubishi's that i would't have a problem buying a Dodge Caliber when they come here, noing that it based on a mitsubishi platform.

Only a few months now until Dodge come to Australia i can't wait! we finaly get the SRT 300c this month

Do you guys have any more cool engines that we don't have in the U.S., like the 215/245/265 I6 HEMI family you had during the 70s.

Yes there is still a few around. My brother still owns a 1972 Charger with a 265 HEMI it has triple Weber carbs, extractors that suits the engine and 3 inch exhaust, 4 speed manual. It has around 400 HP not bad for an old strait 6. It just sits in the garage he dosn't drive it much. It's because of the Valiants and Chargers we had here is how i became a Chrysler nut. 1981 we sold the last Chrysler and wasn't till around 1995 chrysler returned with the Jeep but in the last couple of years chrysler has started to bring more products over here. We have the Voyger,Crossfire,PT cruiser (no turbo versions) and 300c came november last year. SRT launched this month here.We have the latest Jeep range except for Commander it comes next month and Dodge as a brand comes here mid year. The 300c is the official pace car for our V8 touring cars, i dont know if you know of it it's a Championship race between ford and Holden( i wish Chrysler could enter). When Dodge comes here it comes first with the Caliber then the Nitro and a model every six months after that which i think we will see The Avenger( i hope), you can see Dodge is very serious about getting on the world seen. They have said no to Chargers for now but i hope that will change since besides the Viper The Charger is the only Dodge most Australians will know at this time.

Pardon me for getting off topic, but what kind of mileage does he get with the 265 I6. I hear those were supposed to be really fuel efficient. I wish they would recreate that I6 line and use it instead to make a new I4 from the things I have read and heard about those engines.

Pardom me as well of getting off the Calibers reliability topic!
I can't say what Mileage he gets at the moment but i know he said it's pretty good when not being pushed and since he has put the tripple webers instead of the 2 barrel carb. I supose with modern day fuel injection and management, higher gears etc. it could be Quite fuel efficient for a 4.3 L I6

An intsesting link on the Aussie Charger

Since it´s a new car and the Dodge brand is arriving to Europe, I cant find any info about the car.
I have hoping that you guys help me in this issue.

..and by the way... anyone with Diesel engine Caliber?

what is your feedback about it?

cheers,

fLAVIO

ps: what is the wheel (rims) fitment for the caliber?
