Dealership Misleading on Delivery dates?
just curious if anyone else is having this frustrating problem.
I ordered a caliber the end of march and at the time, I was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get it.
Now im reading in this forum that apparently the real time frame dealerships are told to give is 8 to 12 weeks, double what i was told.
just talked to the dealership and now they are telling me im going to be waiting until the end of June for my car if not longer.
So this dealership obviously lied to me, cuting the waiting time in half. And thats IF this I get it the end of June.
I am very tempted to cancel my order if for no other reason then on principle.
Fact is if he would have just told me the 8-12 weeks, I probably would have still ordered the car.
Because of the fact that i expected to have the car by now, I had made plans to go on
a road trip next month that I now have to cancel. which as you can imagine, upsets me quite a bit.
I just wish there was a way i could transfer my order to a different, more upfront and honest dealership (if one of those exists) without adding more time to the wait.

A dealer really doesn't have any idea when they'll get an ordered car in. They were probably just going off previous orders and didn't really think it would take that long. I would guess that yours should be built shortly, within the next 3 weeks or so. Really depends on if the dealer is allotted any orders. When they are, your Caliber will be built, but until then, play the waiting game like me and others on the forum. You can also look around through other dealers and see if they have something like what you want.
Camurai...I can understand your complaint here. I ordered a Caliber SXT on February 21 and still have no firm build/ship date. My parents, ordered a Caliber SXT a week after mine (from the same salesman) and they do not even have a VIN. While I do have a VIN, it has been in "D-Status" for the better part of a month now. We were also told 4-8 weeks. Be patient... This car is selling very well for Chrylser, and I have a feeling they are trying to make sure the cars that get out have no major problems.
