Default Replacing door lock *****

A while back I bought some chrome door lock ***** to replace the plastic ones on my Caliber. Actually they're chrome bullets. When I tried to get one of the stock ones off I had to use my Leatherman to get it unscrewed- kinda chewed it up a little. After getting it unscrewed, I pulled and pulled, but it wouldn't come out of the hole. Seems the base of the **** is bigger than the hole. I didn't get too ambitious about it for fear of tearing something up. I asked a parts guy at the dealership about it, but he said he didn't have anything for Caliber on his computer yet. He did say that on some Dodges, the ***** are secured to the lock mechanism itself. I find that hard to believe.
Anybody know how the get them off without taking the door panel off? Is there some little trick?

Also, the guy at the dealership said that he had heard that Dodge was planning to come out with chrome ***** and inside door handles for the Caliber. Just wonder how much that'll set ya back.

Sorry for rambling on so much, but thanks for listening, or reading, or whatever ya call it. fitz7

Fitz,

Give a friend of mine at Henson Motors a call

Art Kendricks
Henson Motors
Madisonville, TX
800-530-5337
Ask for Art in the parts dept.

Tell him Mike with DTW gave you his info.

He is awesome. Knows just about everything with Dodge Vehicles, and will investigate for you new parts, or even how to install a part. If you ever need Dodge parts, he is the man. Pricing is awesome, even with shipping. I have purchased a hood, cam, plugs, plug wires plus much more from him in the past for my truck.

He also sells on e-bay as hensonmotors

Default RE: Replacing door lock *****

Thanks Mike. Funny thing is, some friends bought a Durango at Henson Motors about 40 miles away, and recommended them to us when we started looking for a Caliber. They didn't have any at the time and we got ours at DeMontrond in Conroe, Tx. So I know exactly where to find Mr. Kendricks. Small world. Again, Thanks a bunch!

No problem, He is a good guy, and if you let him know about DTW (dodge truck world) he will give you a discounted price on anything. He is awesome. I can call him and he will take the time to look things up and even speak to a mechanic for me to get answers on installation.

Good Luck
