R/T FWD - Anybody have a mileage report?
I live in AZ and have no need for AWD, however I like the 2.4 R/T for its better handling and steering. Does anybody own one of these with FWD instead of AWD? I am interested to know if the mileage posts a bit better; you would think so if the AWD gear is being deleted from the car.
Thanks

The R/T ONLY comes in AWD, but the system is designed to only use the rear wheels for "handling", or low traction purposes. So, the gas mileage difference would be negligable, if you could get a FWD R/T.
I ran across this today -> http://www.caliberforums.com/forums/...ead.php?t=1429
Looks like you can get a FWD R/T with either a 2.4L CVT or 2.4L 5-Speed.

Not so...I spoke with my dealer last week about ordering one and was told (and had it pointed out to me in the brochure) that the R/T does now come in FWD as well as AWD.

Correct, you can now order a Caliber R/T with FWD and a 5-speed manual if you wish. You can also now order a Caliber R/T FWD w/CVT. The post above about the Caliber R/T being AWD only is incorrect.

I've had my R/T since April,we made 2 trips to South Carolina from New Jersey about 700 miles mileage was pretty constant at 31 on the interstate using A/C at 70 mph.I live in a mountains in northwest Jersey, getting in the low mid 20's around town.The car is great climbing hills,and handles very well.Went from 2 Eddie Bauer Explorers before this and I am very happy with the Caliber.
