Annoying expansion joint slap & jolt
Well, I guess the honeymoon is over...I found something I don't like about my Cali...last night I travelled the notorious Pennsylvania Turnpike (N.E. extension) and was constantly bombarded by the annoying slap of every expansion joint in the roadway. I'm thinkin', "this is what I'm gonna have to put up with with this car from now on"...it was just a dose of reality for me, because I traded a nice Sebring LXi for this black beauty. However, I still love the thing. It's fun on back roads. It's cool looking. It's got great mileage. Hmmm...maybe the honeymoon isn't quite over yet!
I was reading Car and Driver or one of those magazines yesterday at Jury Duty, and they said the same thing. The expansion joints on the freeways are horrible with the Caliber. Oh Well, maybe different tires or shocks.

Same problem exists all over especially on those hot sticky days when you hear the asphalt joints smacking
with every hit.
I guess you can throw a lot of money at the solution or learn to live with it and enjoy the car for what it is.
I have seen other posts that express concern about the fact that the stock tires are quite loud. You might want to post a new thread asking whether people that bought new tires and rims (many do) have noticed any difference in road noise.
And as an ex-Pennsylvanian, I know how bad the Turnpike is![:@]
Bear in mind though; to price a car where the Caliber is priced, they could not have spent a lot of money on road noise dampening.

Yea, you're right. I guess I'll opt for getting used to it...or staying off the PA Turnpike! Then there's always the solution of just turning up the stereo! Nonetheless, I love this car.
