Default Buying a Calibre

I am in the UK, and looking at buying a new Calibre, can any suggest anything to becareful of? Or anything I should be aware of that you wish you knew before buying?

I have test driven the 1.8 SE and that will be the model I'm going for, I would like the 2.0 but can't afford the insurance!

They're a pretty safe buy. There isn't really anything bad you need to look for. Just make sure you give the one you're buying a thorough test drive, and be sure to get it up to road speeds.

I have only had my SXT CRD only a few days but been pleased so Far.

Have you considered the 2ltr Diesel, all the articles (which were many) I read gave a 3 out of 5 marking but recommended the Diesel. I know it’s up to £2000 more but there will be a saving on the MPH and is got great acceleration.

I never had either a diesel or such a big engine so it’s all new ground for me. The last 5 cars I have bought have been various Suzuki’s and even though I’m very pleased with my Caliber you do notice the build quality differences. Only very minor things! The bonnet on one side is 2 mm higher at the top next to the front window. Some of the interior has very very minor displacements. This does confirm what the write up say about build issues.

However saying that, all the extras, like electric folding wing mirrors and auto locking systems are great. I would say that it’s good value for the money here in the UK.

One thing that is interesting and little annoying thing is that the same car in Germany is approx £1000 cheaper and £2000 cheaper in the US. (Not that you get the Diesel in the US so I based that on the top SXT model) Unfortunately another example of Rip of Britain! [X(]

All in all it’s certainly turned a few heads when I been driving around and the dealership where very useful and friendly. My neighbour likes it to.

I hope it works out for you AJ.

PS what colour do you want?

I am only young so I chose the 1.8 for insurance reasons!

And as for the colour, I want it in black so the wing mirrors and door handles look colour coded :P

I see, that can be an issue when you are under 30 with low no claims.

We have the steal blue and that was for the same reason, you don't notice the black trim so much, plus my last car was black time for a change.

Post a picture when you get it.

I am still slightly tempted by the silver though, because my current car is silver, my dads car is white, my girlfriends saxo is silver, her dads 05 bmw 5 series is silver and her mums car is blue and silver, although I haven't seen it in the showrooms in silver, mainly black and orange (although I have seen one in blue), so I'm not sure if maybe dodge don't like it in silver, or maybe its just the showrooms I have been in!

Good luck with your purchase!!

See if you can get some extras thrown it, like mats etc Every little helps!!

Have they given you an idea on a delivery time?

Silver is a pretty uncommon colour for Calibers here, probably because nearly everyother car on the road is silver these days!!

Orange seems to be the popular colour here, although mine is red, after a long debate after originally ordering black
