Compatible Studded Tires
I own a 2007 Caliber SXT and live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I need studded tires if I'm going to survive the 8 month winter here. The dealership has no clue if there are any studded tires out there for my 17" rims, and frankly I don't want to screw up my rims during my winter driving (we use gravel up here; that's hard enough on the rest of the car!).
Is it possible to put 15" rims (and studs) on a Caliber? If so, can anyone tell me which rims would be compatible with the lug nut configeration and wouldn't cause any problems when turning, etc.?
I don't know anything about cars, mechanics, tires, etc. I just like to drive my Caliber.
But I'd be grateful for any insight in this matter.
Thanks in advance!

COSTCO has winter rims in their tire dept. The 15" with code X42554 fit the Caliber just fine. There is lots of clearance for both the disc and drum brakes. You will not be able to monitor the tire pressure if your vehicle has that option unless you purchase additional valve stems for that purpose. Then it is your option on what tire (with stud receptacles) to purchase. There is plenty of hub clearnace to allow ease of placement and removal. To keep your speedometer working correctly you will need to purchase P205-75R-15 OR P215-70R-15
