Default Early Models- transmission interchange, fuel economy?

I have several mini Ram Vans from 1985 to 1990 and I prefer the 5 speed manual transmissions for their reliabilty. Does anyone know if the 3.0 V6 has the same bell housing bolt pattern as the 2.2 or 2.5 engines? I would like to couple a 5 speed with my 3.0- apparently Dodge never did this.
Also, I would like to swap the 2.5 engine and 5 speed from a 1984 into a 1990 with a 3.0 automatic. Will the CV shafts interchange? What type of wiring and computors do I need to take with the 2.5 (from the 1984) to make the fuel injection work properly?
Was there different ratio transaxles in the 5 speed transmissions? If so, how do I tell the difference? Did they all have overdrives?
And what's the best way to improve fuel economy? A 2.5 liter with a 5 speed should get better than 25-28 mpg! Is there a computor chip that will help? Can I buy an exhaust header, an economy camshaft...? I would like to see 30-35 mpg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.[/align]
