differential pin problem
Well if the pin doesn't slip out far enough to snag on an edge of the tranny case and grenade the case, it will a lot of times gradually slide out and wear groove in the case until it breeaks through and you start losing tranny fluid. In the second case there is a usually a lot of metal filings that get swept through and can cause the solenoid pack to fail or even plug the filter. Limp mode will often be a precursor to total failure. Needless to say if it breaks a rebuild is usually in order, but now they have clips called "CASE SAVERS" to prevent it from working out. I've actually welded mine in a few times before i knew of the case savers.
will that cause a high pitch whine? when put into reverseit hasno movement.just a grinding type whine= i can hear something spinning...also when i put it into drive it will move a few feet make a loud clunking sound =then it moves a few feet as if it was in 3rd gear then stops== i drove the van 14 miles to work on monday with no symthoms of anything wrong=went to park it =put it in reverse and it wouldnt move = so tried to pull it off the road
