Engine shake
Hello all ! New member here. I own a 95 Caravan with a 3.0. It has an annoying engine shake. It will only happen when I let off the gas going down from 35 towards 25 mph. If I step on the gas she will run fine. It is worst when the engine is cold. I had a tune-up performed and also the transmission serviced. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix her up...... Thanks, Jay
Hm, most of our 'shakes' happen between 50 and 60 mph. Seems pretty common. I guess you could do as the rest of us have and check to make sure nothing is loose, all bolts and mounting brackets are secure, and just live with it. Annoying as hell, ain't it?
Normally on overrun the fuel is cut off after about 15 seconds so I doubt the engine is causing the shakes. It could be a bad inner CV( drive axle joint) or a trans that is engaging and disengaging the converter clutch. Have you tried lightly pushing on the brake pedal when this happens--if that makes a difference, it could be a misadjusted stop light switch which normally serves to disengage the converter clutch. my guess is that it is a bad inner CV joint. Those joints can only handle a small running angle so a broken engine mount could also cause this symptom.
