97 AWD LXI
My van starts runs 3 to 4 seconds and dies over and over again / I suspect the BCM but I am not sure. I think this because "not nessisarily in this order" When I unlock the doors they relock themselves, have to catch in the unlock possition open the door and hit power lock button or the alarm will go off. The odo does not illuminate the gas gage does not move the overhead information center has no information. When I set off the alarm the lights flash the security light flashes but the horn does not honk. I think Its the BCM (Body Control Module) because it is like the alarm has been tripped and dissabled the fuel pump. I don't think it is the fuel pump because of the other symtems and because it always start idles smooth but always dies soon. But that is just my opinion. I am hoping for YOUR EXPERT OPINIONS. Thank You
the door locks locking back is a key switch inside your door the odm and gas guage is a cluster there are posts around for a repair of the solder points look on here some where. the alarm vary well cold be the bcm. Try the key switch first and the repair of the cluster. The over head will fallow once the commucation is back and working and can transfer info on the bus.
Thank you but what do I do to make it run or do all of the above affect the running of the car. I am so confused. / the doors locking back has been going on for several months the rest just all happened the other morning all at once. Also my clock spring is defective. But is only covered up to 70,000mi. I have over 100,000mi. But shouldn't affect the new problems?
thats the trickey part about knowing what is going on with the alarm. A dealer would tell u what tripped the alarm off last. do u have a remote??? use the remote to unlock the doors that wont use the key switch. Plus if the alarm is going off then no the van will not start untill the issue that set it off in the first place is taken care of. if its a switch issue a new bcm will just pick up on that and u will have the same issue. If the cluster is bad it will not allow the bcm to talk to the pcm and then the pcm will not allow the van to start.
Of and BTW the clock spring is LIFETIME replacment so dont let ne one tell u any different.
