Default confused about rear drum change in 93 caravan

[align=left]Greetings
I have my 93 Caravan brake drums off the vehicle, the drums I took off are drums and the (hub)? in one piece.
the part the slides onto the spindle is attached to the drum itself. I went to the store and got a new drum but it does not have the ( hub)?. it is just the drum with a large hole .
Does the Hub knock out? I tried placing the drum on the ground and attempted to knock the Hub out?
It is not moving so I am thinking that it does not come out or there is something simple I am missing.
I do not want to beat on something that should not be beat on!
kinda confused and this does not seem to be too complicated but I guess it is.
could someone clear this up for me.

Thanks,Gex

Your drum is rusted to the hub. Soak the baby in penetrant. Since you're putting on a new drum, just bang around the old one with a big honking hammer. The goal is to set up vibrations that will break the rust loose. Cast iron is great at vibrating with a large hammer blow, so don't be afraid to whack it good, expecially since the bearings are out. They are out, aren't they? In not, take them out before you whack it.

Perfect !
Thanks Rick.
I have not removed the bearing yet but I did not give it much of a beating yet anyway. I soaked the thing in pentrating oil tonight. we shall see what tomorrow brings. If its ornery I will remove the bearings.
I do not have a specific tool for this. will the poor mans technique of tapping it evenly out be ok?
Thanks for the info and the fast reply and also the tip on the bearings. Its been a long time I have done any mechanical work. Its because of lack of money I had to dust off my tools, I feel like a fish out of water its been so long.
I am very thankful for the advice Rick!
take care,Gex

Done!
It was real easy once I knew those hubs had to come out of the drum.
a good heavy soaking in simple ole WD and one popped with a rubber mallet the other required a little more pursuasion.
Now on to the Rack and oil change.

Thanks again Rick
