Today my 98 Dodge Caravan started making metallic grinding noises, from what sounds like the area of the AC or the Main Crank pulley area. How would i find out what it is, and has anyone else had this problem? If so, what can be done about it.

 

take a small pipe... broomstick.. something about 2 ft long or more.. and put it on the a/c and anything with a pully while the vehicle is running.. it does not need to toutch the pully itself... then put your ear to the other end.. check them all.. you will hear it when you put it on the right equipment. i have a 99 caravan.. and these vans are known for the a/c tensioner pully to go out..
