Default 3.3 piston replacement

On a 3.3 what is the easiest quick and dirty way to change a piston? Can it be done from the bottom of the engine?

Default RE: 3.3 piston replacement

To try and change a single piston, engine in, is NOT an easy task. More so, inspecting for other damage. If you are sure it's the piston thats failed, my advise is to scrap the engine. The scrapyards are full of 3.3s. My local yard just got a 97 grandC 3.3 rear smash. Engine and trans fine. Point is, with the time and expence of engine work, a replacement may be cheaper and faster. With a lift, the engine/trans come out pretty quick, you lift the body off.

This is also the best way to do major engine work. Beware... if the rebuilder misses something (other damage), the engine will self-distruct again. Yeah,... I been down that road once. Look hard for another engine, it may save you money in the longrun.

Good Luck,
