97 caravan backfires sometimes
I have a 97 grand caravan and for the most part it runs well. When driving at 60 or greater it will sometimes backfire when accellerating to pass or go up a hill. It doesn't backfire when accellerating at lower speeds. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Th thing that usually goes bad is the vacuum solenoid which comes with the valve. It will eventually set a check engine light. I've gone through this with a few of my caravans and was usually pre-ceded by poor gas mileage before the mil light. On my first 97, I remember a few backfires (one of which actually split the crimp on the muffler) , and this was before the mil came on.
well before i totaled my 96 grand caravan se with the 3.3 engine i replaced the egr valve twice i had 288,000 miles on it until i hit a deer with it.. and my fuel mileage never dropped i was still pulling 25 mpg.. but i used my van to haul a ton of papers 7 nights a week..
