2006 gc hard downshift 2nd-1st
ok. been reading around here.. and i am a lil concerned.. i have 85% of the time since i bought the van. an abrupt down shift from 2nd to 1st as i come almost to a complete stop..
its odd i didnt drive the van on the test drive, my wife did.. and the first couple of days i didnt really notice it.. now it annoys the crap out of me everytime i drive it.. and i hate that.. cuz this van is really nice.. we traded in her 02 liberty for it.. the ammenities are great.. but with 34k on it.. should i take it in to be looked at.. ive read that A; its normal, b; its the ecm, C; its the soloniod pack, d; it could be a learning curve for the ecm.. i do have an extensive DIY background. and have had experience with every component of automobiles and motorcycles..... but i got warranty left and if there is an issue.. i want it taken care of now.. you know.. so any insight would be extremely grateful..

if you have a warranty and you have a harsh downshift...take it to the dealer to be fixed!!!!!!
may be something as simple as the tcm needing a quick learn performed (with a scanner, takes 5 minutes)
could be a bad solenoid pack
could be a hanging valve body
all of which you dont have to pay for now...so dont wait. it should shift smooth as silk, upshifting and downshifting. harsh downshifts are hard on the clutch packs, so get it taken care of asap.

While driving vehicle, a good scanner (something like Snap-On) will provide running figures for 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, and OD.
Another possibility is one of the two speed sensors have gone bad.
Regardless, with everything functioning properly, the transmission ought to be shifting as smooth as silk.
