2002 Dodge Caravan Warranty Question
I previously posted a thread regarding major issues with my 2002 Dodge Caravan. I think I found some good news in the form of a 7 year/100,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty that I was unaware of. After digging through my files, this little paper showed up. So my question is where do the following fall under warranty wise:
Rack and Pinion
Shift Solenoid Gasket
Head Gaskets
Also could I get reimbursed for the dye oil leak test the dealer did to determine my head gasket dilemma?? I am keeping my fingers crossed that all is covered. Thanks.

The shift solenoid gasket and head gaskets should fall under the powertrain warranty--so should the dye test, if that's what turned up the head gasket problem.
Rack and pinion isn't considered powertrain.

Thanks Rick! I am relieved for the most part. When would replacing the Rack and Pinion fall under the warranty? I am trying to decipher this warranty and don't know where to look for it. I am planning to call Chrysler tomorrow to ask about all of this and then call the dealer to get the gaskets fixed.
Jules, if you PM me your VIN number, first four letters of your last name, and your current mileage I can look up to see if these parts will be covered for you. I'm a seasoned chrysler tech and I have access to the warranty labor ops at home. might save you some time with your local dealer.
I actually spent time today on the phone with Chrysler and the dealership I am working with. Rick, you were right about the gaskets and the Rack and Pinion. I am getting a second opinion on the Rack and Pinion before getting it fixed. I am so glad those gaskets are under warranty and I am getting reimbursed for the dye test. I am perflexed on why the dealership didn't look up my VIN to see if I had any warranty left. What is the procedure on doing that? This could have saved me a lot of worrying and phone calling. Thanks to all who answered my questions!!
chances are your rack and pinion are leaking. very common problem with this era minivan. i've seen them leaking horribly right off the transport truck. problem is they are being replaced with the exact same part, so its going to leak again sometime down the road. if its covered under your warranty do it, if its not and its not leaking that bad i would just wait till its worse since the newsteering gearis no better.
