Help with passenger window
99 Grand Caravan...
This summer I have been having trouble with my electronic passenger window. Goes down, but if I leave it half way down, sometimes it wont go back up. If I turn off the car for a while, it will go back up. Doesnt seem to do the same thing if I have it go all the way down.
This behavior is becoming more regular, but seems to act up with hotter days.
If I had to go in a look at it, how do I get the door panel off?
Anybody have/had the same problem? Suggestions?
Would like to go the home remedy route before breaking down and taking it to a dealership ($$$).
Thanks,
kenhokie

I have an 01 Caravan ES. I had the same problem with the same window. It eventually did not want to go up anymore...I had to replace the motor. Now it has been fine for a couple of years...but not my driver side window is doing the same thing....it seems to act up more when I put the window all the way down....ARRG!

The motor gets weak or the window guides are offering too much resistance. So the motor trys for a second or two and the electrical overload protection in it kicks out (so as not to blow fuses, and create bigger problems). This most often happens in the up position and if one removes the door panel, and backs of the two little nuts holding the motor together, it will un-jam with a snap and start working again. Another solution is to press the switch as you slam the door, the jaring motion sometimes frees the motorup until next time.
Other than being tedious and requiring patience, the replacement is not that bad to do yourself. I have done a couple.
Here's a site that should help withdoing the work yourself. I can find you other sources if need be. Let me know. I would replace the whole motor and regulator assembly (around $100.00)
