Default Daytime Running Lights wanted on 2008 Grand Caravan SXT (US model)

Just bought a 2008 Grand Caravan SXT (US model) and want to enable / install Daytime Running Lights. Selling dealer is no help. My previous Caravan (a 2005 GC SXT) had its DRL's turned on by the (same) dealer using their DRB-II scan tool. The dealer now tells me it's not possible to have DRL's on a 2008 GC, which I find hard to believe.

Does anyone know the true facts?

Thanks!

I've rented many 08 Caravans in Canada. They definitely have DRL.
Try another dealer.
In the older models we used to change the Country Code from USA to Canada and boom instant DRL operation. You change this in the BCM with the DRBIII scan tool.
The 08 is a whole different animal but I'm sure the procedure is similar

Default Daytime Running Lights wanted on 2008 Grand Caravan SXT

My '08 Grand Caravan SXT (Canadian model) came enabled with daytime running lights on. They're setup to stay on for 90 seconds after exiting the vehicle also (Headlight Delay).

But... my owners manual covers the daytime running lights on page 163 and states beside the Daytime Running Lights header in brackets (Canada/Fleet Vehicles Only)".

I can't imagine why they would not have made them a standard feature on US model vehicles as well.

DRL is mandatory in Canada (has been since 1990)
Only a few US states require DRL operation.
I do think it is kinda strange the US hasn't complied I this respect because it's documented the Highway accidents were greatly reduced due to day time running lights.

I think GM has led the way in the US. I've seen quite a few GM vehicles in the US with DRL.
Most vehicles built after 2000 have optional DRL function built in it just turned off by default on most US market vehicles.

I'm a believer in safety of DRL's! I find it strange that Chrysler is not more forthcoming with information on this issue. I'm about to purchase the service manual (which I would buy anyway), maybe it will shed some light on the issue.

Thanks,
