Default 2008 Caravan Winter Tire Suggestions

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good studless winter tire for the Caravan.

Tire size is 225/65/16 but I was also wondering what size others are using since this is not a common size on the 2008s. I was thinking about 215/70/16.

The dealer quoted me some Goodyears in 235/65/16s. When I started asking questions about what they could supply in 225/65/16 or 215/70/16 it sounded like I was the first person to call them about winter tires for a caravan. Thanks

I would check out the Nexens at Wal-Mart or CTC's Goodyear Nordics.

GO TO DISCOUNTTIRE.COM. Click on tires, then Put in your van info. Click on
plus sizes. It shows as a plus-zero(equivilant size) either the 215/70/16 or 235/65/16.

TIRERACK.COM HAS THE 215/70/16 in FIRESTONE WINTERFORCE. I use these on my rear wheel drive-Miata. Awsomme tires for $64 each!! Shipping is cheap. Can't beat that.

Shipping from the US to Canada can be very expensive. Watch that - get an all inclusive quote.

I'm going to purchase the General Altimax Arctic tires for my 03 GC
They don't come in your exact size but there are quite a few options that come close and I think they would be suitable. Tire rack quotes these sizes

I used P215/65R-16 Kumho Marshall 791 Touring A/S M+S tires on my Van last Winter. They were near new going into Winter so I thought I would give them a try for the first part of the Winter. They were so good that I ran them them all Winter. This Winter I will use my snow tires as the Kumhos are somewhat worn and the snow tires are near new.
Data on the Kumhos:
Available at Wal-Mart
They are all season but are rated mud and snow as well
Treadware Grade: 560
Traction Grade: "A"
Temperature Grade: "B"
Load / Speed Rating 96T
Initial tread depth: 10/32"

For general tire information / safety considerations: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/.../brochure.html

For tire size calculation: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

For the 225/65 versus the 215/70 the speedometer reading with the non-stock tire is 1.2% too slow. When going 60 per your speedometer, you will actually be going 60.7 mph

A year ago I bought the Dunlop winter sport 3D tires from Tire Rack.com for my 2007 GC 215-65-16. They were not cheap, I think about $110 per tire + $8 each shipping. I had them shipped direct to a local installer. They far outperform the Bridgestone Turanza's that came on the vehicle. They are actually quieter and have a far better ride. In winter on snowy icy roads they are great. I could not be happier with them. I cannot wait until Thanksgiving weekend when I put them back on and I hate to take them off in the spring.
