installing wiring harness for 06 grand caravan
We bought this van about 3 months ago. It did not have a hitch on it so we ordered one for DH to put on so we can tow our pop up.
He got the hitch on without any problems, but DH is having some issues putting the wiring harness on.
The directions say to remove the rear lite housing on both sides, attach the harness then remove the rear interior panel to finish the wiring....
DH is trying to find out how to remove them...he doesn't want to break something so he is hesitant to be too forceful with them.
Anyone know how the panels come off / out.
Thanks!
Lynn

THIS IS THE DIRECTIONS FROM THE MOPAR WEBSITE. It looks like they want you to
take off the rear bumper cover, but not the interior trim. Hope this helps

I just went thru this. I bought an aftermaket harness at Canadian Tire and followed the instructions that came with it. Start by removing the rubber seal around the interior at the door * it is not necessary to remove at the bottom of the floor area.
On each side you will see a couple of black plastic "pins" that hold the tail lites in. Remove with a "panel popper". If you don't have one ...get one...they're cheap and are a most valuable tool for the DIY. Unplug the wiring harness at the left (drivers) lite. There is a red "lock" pin that has to be removed to do this. Plug in the appropriate ends to the lite. Remove the jack cover and jack/parts. You will see that there are clips holding on the side interior panels. GENTLY...remove from their holes using the panel popper. It is not necessary to remove all the way around. Just enough for you to get your hand inside the panel. Likely there will be a sticky cover over one of the access holes...remove gently and feed your wire harness thru. For this I used an old speedo cable taped on to the harness. Great for all sorts of wire "fishing". I found that the single white wire that is supposed to go to the right lite is too short. Cut/extend/solder/shrink this wire to reach the right side lite by way of the plastic cover that crosses the floor. Be sure to hide the wire under the carpet area and also that it will not interfere with anything (spare tire lowering). Plug in the ends to their respective plugs and check for operation. You do not have to remove the bumper cover for this installation.
Reassemble.
