Default Factory dvd/cd

I have a 07 GC w/factory radio/cd/cassette. I can get a used factory cd/dvd at a reasonable price. I was wondering if my existing harness will plug right in and then I could somehow splice on the video out. I was thinking about bringing the video out wire from the back of the unit, out from under the dash then plug into a small monitor. Anyone have an idea if this is possible?

Thanks.

OK so here's what I did. The new DVD/CD unit plugged right into the existing harness. Radio and CD's play fine. The new unit has an additional 12 pin connection for the video out. I connected wires to the pins that are marked video signal and video shield and then plugged it into a portable DVD player input via an rca jack. The DVD cues up and plays audio, but no picture. I'm wondering if the video output on this unit is actually bad, or there is more to wiring it than simply wiring to the video out. Maybe you must use the factory harness and somehow the circuit loops back through a control module or something? Most of the pins on the connection are marked spares. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

So the new unit would not play on a universal monitor. Evidently there is something in the factory wiring. After some internet searching I found a guy who could open up the unit and solder on some leads directly off the laser pick up so I can use the video signal. After that it was pretty easy to install an LCD monitor on a bracket by the front passenger seat. This unit also has the front rca jacks for an ipod or other device.

I spent a total of about $375 and now have a pretty cool custom DVD system. I eventually will add a tv tuner when I can find one that picks up the new digital signals.
