Transmission/transaxle problem
Hi. I have a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I think there might be a problem with the tranny. Everytime we put the vehicle into gear (reverse or drive) there is a distinct, 'creaking' noise that lasts for about 1/2 second to 1 second then goes away. It also makes this noise when the van changes gears down the road.
Is the transmission (transaxle) about to fail ? The noise has been there for over a year but seems to be getting worse. I have checked the tranny fluid and it appears to be clean, with no nasty smells. And so far, it seems to shift good... but I have a feeling that this is something bad. Any help would be appreciated... heck, I might have to take it to a tranny shop... which scares me.

Here's a link that might help.It doesn't mention "creaking" noises but there might be something you can use.
