are there 2 threaded holes 180° apart where u can screw in a couple bolts? did u remove the factory retaining clips? i know ive had to beat the snot out of rotors and drums to get off on some other vehicles. might be your situation. try spraying wd or other penetrating fluid around center hub and each wheel stud and give it a day to work in. maybe u need to use a torch to heat up the rotor around the hub but be careful so you dont fry the bearings

Back off the adjustment by prying up through the adjustment hole, located near the bottom. (atleast that's the way it works on my 2002). These are not self adjusting brakes so no lever there to worry about.

Make sure the external levers that the cables fasten to are to the rear all the way. Anything else and your brake could be engaged somewhat.

If those levers are stuck, they often are, spray some WD-40 at the pinned joint inside (blind, so follow the lever in).

IF you pull hard enough, you will pull the retainer pins through the backing plate, and you will be able to disassemble everything then. To avoid pulling them through though (reduce damage), the pins can be turned around from the back of the backing plate with a pair of needle nose pliers or needle nose vice grips. They are nestled in a little indent back there and you may have to dig some dirt away just to find the tabs. Turn the tabs to line up with the slit they fit through (should be horizontal slit) and that will release the connection there.

The likely cause of the problem is a rust lip has built up on the edge of the wearing surface inside the drum and the shoes are catching on it. Those brakes are a pita and need to be regreased, especially the pinned joint for the lever, with synthetic brake lube or antiseize every six months along with grinding off the rust lip mentioned previously (to lessen the grief you are experiencing now).
