When car cold it sounds fine if gas pedal not applied,when I press gas pedal it roars and doesn't have much power ( also fuel smells from exhaust).When it gets hot (after 5-10 min )power comes back and everything is fine till steep hill when it loses power again ( decelerate).No engine light is on .It has 120000 miles on it.

What year what engine? I am thinking bad plugs?

 

sounds like dozens of possible things from plugs (as mentioned) to fuel pressure, to broken flex plate, and much other stuff.

 

It is 3.0 L v6 ; 1998 Dodge Caravan !

When you say bad plug ,do you mean bad spark plug connection ?

Yes bad spark plugs, or bad plug wires. Or the other mentions also could be causing it.
