Exclamation Cannot get front blower motor out of 05 Sport!

I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to get to the last screw that holds the lower HVAC housing to the upper piece. The screw in question is the one in the back of the housing near the firewall.

The reason I am changing the motor in the first place is because the Resistor pack keeps going out so I want to change them both out at the same time. Am I correct in my thinking?

Thanks, I look forward to your replys.

Check this ARRC site for blower motor removal / installation.

Default Don't change the blower motor if it runs

If the blower motor is running, don't fix it. It is a simple DC motor, the rpm is downsized simply by adding resistors to the circuit. Get a new resistor assembly from your local dealer. I had a similar problem. I am happy for not changing the blower motor.

You need to loosen up the entire heater housing to get that last screw out. The trick is to loosen the housing from UNDER THE HOOD. Yeah, look for the bolts that go into the heater/ductwork from the firewall. You don't have to remove them, just loosen them enough to pry the plastic housing out far enough to get that last screw. That's how the pros do it.

I finally went to the dealer and bought a new resistor pack, if I had known that they were only 20.00 I would not have screwed areound with the "Radio Shack" fix. The new resistor pack is a lot differant than the old one and now everything works great.

Thanks RickMN if I ever have to replace one (we have a fleet of six) I will remember that.
