I'm having a mobile mechanic come over to service my RAM Van. He says he is ASE certified. Would a certified ASE mechanic be able to show that certification?

even you can get ASE certified. all you do is take a test and you're suppose to prove that you've been working as a mechanic for a couple thousand hours...that's it

 

If you have doubts, call ASE (703-669-6600) and give them his name. They can look up his certification. Just be aware there is a certification for each area of the car. Brakes, engine, steering, etc. Once you've gotten all 8 certifications, you can test for your Master cert. Then you can test for L-1 Advanced Engine Diagnostics.

 

Interesting. Thanks for that phone number BTW. Sounds like having all 8 is truly called a "master mechanic" I've always wondered if that was truly a real term.
