hi, ive got a 98 caravan with the 3.3l and 4sp. Tranny is bad and Ive been searching for a used one. I have found a '99 4sp. out of a 3.3l and a '98 4sp. out of a 3.8l. Will either of these work? thanks.

 

the 3.8 will work perfect. the 99 will require rewiring the range sensor switch (10 wires)

 

ok. i have heard the drive ratios are not the same. does this make a huge difference?

 

none what so ever. infact I've been finding that the gen 3 vans have the same ratio for 3.3 and 3.8 while the older vehicles had different ratios. But if you are one of the worry warts. . all you'd have to do is pull the end cover on your trans and the 3.8 trans and see if the gears are the same tooth count. that's where the ratio comes from
