I have a Caravan SE I am trying to install an aftermaket radio in. All the car audio sites say I need a C2R-CHY4 adapter. Since this vehicle has a basic radio (RES) and does not appear to have a CANBus interface I can't see the reason for having the adapter. I examined the factory radio connections and they look straight forward. I have not had any luck in finding just a standard wiring harness.

Has anyone had any experience installing an aftermarket radio without using the C2R-CHY4 adapter?

 

The RES radio is on the interior Can bus, check the pin outs on the radio connector, 2 are for Can bus. Without the adapter, look forward to trouble codes because you've eliminated a node. Also, there is no switched 12V supply on the stock radio connector because Can bus enables the stock radio. The adapters can be had for about $75 if you search.
