Default Every one read must read all dodge owners

I have posted two threads both titled "please help dodge caravan tranny problems #1 and #2...My Dodge Caravan started shifting hard into 1st gear when I would stop at a light, my speedometer would go crazy and go from 0 to 100 my gas gauge would stop working then I would get a cel P0720 and go into limp mode...I changed the input and output sensor, nothing helped then I took it to Glendale Dodge "The Ellis Family Stores"... They said the tranny would need to be pulled and likely a broken weld on the rear carrier tone ring...I told the manager of the store he was nuts..He then advised a new rebuilt tranny at a cost of $4,160.00..I also had a bad bearing on my alternator they wanted $469.00 to replace the alternator...So I went to the junk yard and got a alternator for $60.00 and put it in...No More Trouble....Transmission magically corrected the broken weld..All symptoms gone van drives great..Never go to this Dodge dealer Never.....They are crooks...My other post labeled number 2 is a word for word script from Glendale Dodge if you want to read what the crooks tried to pull....So please advise any and all...Feel free to post my story anywhere...And all the people that I read had transmissions replaced because they had the same symptoms as mine....Can you imagine if just half of them only needed an alternator...If anyone has any idea as to what I could do to further my rant against this Dodge dealer please tell me.. I will call corporate Dodge today and let them have it...

Thanks to all who answered my thread and tried to help

Mike

There's NOTHING wrong with the trans!!!!!! You have some wierd electrical problem, all the symptoms you have identified lead to electrical problem probably with the CCD bus communications circuit or one of the computer modules like the BCM. First it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a broken weld at the rear carrier tone ring since that part is also the park pawl. If you didn't have park, then maybe but I'm 100% sure that's not a possiblity at all. The price on that trans if FU^$ing nuts. Check with a quality transmission shop and you'll find the price to be less than 1/2. Hell, your whole van is about worth that trans price.... might as well junk it and get a import then you won't need to ever post another problem. Infact, just for grins, call a different Dodge dealer parts department and get a cash/carry price on a Mopar rebuild. About 12 years ago, we were buying reman Mopar transmissions from chrysler for $800 with 3/36 warranty. If you really want to just 'throw a new trans at it' why not just get a known good one?

Default Yes Glendale California Ellis Dodge

I have talked to the cfo of Ellis Dodge they have 2 locations one in Glendale California the other in Canoga Park California...They act as if this never happens...While I was there with my nightmare there was a very nice but very upset gentleman who was picking up his 2006 Jeep for the 2nd time, the first time they had his jeep for 25 days waiting for parts. The 1st time he went to pick it up the mechanic said oops I see deisel leaking under the car we missed something we will have to keep it for a couple of days and fix it...So they gave him a rental and he came back 2 days later started to drive down the street when deisel started to come out from under the hood and go up his windsheild and cascade over the car he turned around and demanded they fix what they broke and most importantly wash his beautiful Jeep immediatley because it was covered with deisel...I was there when he was picking it up from this nightmare....As he walked outside and they drove his jeep up he exploded ...Why? They did not wash off his black 2006 jeep, it was still covered with deisel..I told him to sue them and refuse to take posession of the vehicle...And yes I have already contacted the bar and will proceed..If my mother had brought that van in to Ellis Dodge she would have said take out the tranny and probably would have been suckered into a new rebuilt for $4,160.00 plus tax....They are terrible they are crooks and liars....

You know when I lived in FL the local Dodge dealer were douche bags and they managed to treat me with utter contempt all because I bought the car for peanuts. Now I live up in ND, I can honestly say I get treated like a king here at Lithia Dodge. So I guess you gotta shop around.

Good for you for reporting them to the BAR...you might also want to contact any of those consumer reporter news reporters, they live for this sort of stuff.

Dealerships do NOT have to resort to this sort of scummy behavior, I have zero tolerance for it and have fired mechanics when I saw them trying to operate this way.
