Front tire noise
Well here is a issue i need to solve. 2008 grand caravan has tire noise or other that i can not figure out. Just today i went and put new tires on it and still the noise. Van has 40000 miles and noise increases with speed. Was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I can't see the front wheel bearings going bad this soon. Hope anyone can shed some light on this.
Tizzy, tried that on the way home no change. Is it just normal to hear that much tire noise cause i don't remember that when i got it new. Also how do you check trans fluid in these new trany. I already rebuilt my 99 ram trans myself so not afraid to get into these issues.
The dipstick is a special tool and can be purchaced from the dealer (nice, I know). The tool number is 9336A and there is a temperature chart to see how full it should be at a certain temp.
What kind of tires, some are just noisy because of the tread pattern.

Tizzy, i purchased Yokohama tire. This is what came on the van. I am not sure if it is the same pattern as what was on it before. So are you saying i can purchase a dip stick to do my own checks. Is the tranny fluid the +4? Is it a no problem buy of the stick or will they give a hard time for the item? I am just not comfortable having dealer do my checks. Nothing against them just like to take care of my vehicles myself if possible.
Our dealer sells them to anybody and we sell alot of them. Probably have a dozen in stock. Yes, +4 is the fluid still.
We bought Yoko's for the wife's '03 van and she hated them, start to finish. Noisy, they pulled after rotating them, they wore out too fast. Can't wait to get them off so I don't have to hear it anymore.

Tizzy, Well had discount tire put another set on my wife's van and at the start they were all right. Noise had been cut in half, but now i am wondering if there is other issues making the tires sing. What could make the front tires sound so loud. Is there a mechanical issue to cause this?

I guess I'd have to hear it. Noises are a bitch, they travel like crazy. You might have bearing issues as well. My wife is our parts manager and she says they sell tons of front bearing for the RT minivan. tough to isolate a front bearing without just replacing them which can get kind of costly. Tire noise is caused mostly by the tread design so it sounds like you had tire issues. Does the noise you have now stay constant? Louder or quieter when you turn? Any change coasting in neutral?
Tizzy, no the noise is a constant any way i try to change it. Even when brakes are applied no change. Now my next question is, are the wheel bearings covered on the drive train warranty? Is the 100,000 mile warranty in effect on my 2008 caravan? I even tried the auto stick to lower gears and no change.
