Default Newer Caravan DVD

Hey all,

New to the forum, and new to the Dodge lifestyle. We just purchased an 07 Caravan with pretty much bare bones options. It has absolutely no extras, which for the most part is fine, but we have kids and are considering adding a DVD player. I know that these vans have been equiped with DVD players, but not on the bare bones models. My question is whether or not there is a wiring harness in the ceiling of the van that would allow for a factory plug and play DVD player if I were to find one on the cheap. I am capable of installing an aftermarket unit, but I have an option of buying a factory player for a significant discount. I am hoping there is a harness in the van that I can plug into, but I am unsure. Hopefully one of you more knowledgeable Dodge folks can help me out.

Thanks,

Nakinaw

There is not a harness that is already in the van. The dealer install unit comes with the harness that needs to be installed.

Thanks Tizzy!

Is that harness a plug and play harness? Meaning will there be a place to plug the harness in, or will it have be hard wired and get fused and all that good stuff?

it all comes from the radio and the dvd player. I don't believe there is any splicing involved.

Go Vikes!

OK, did some research, if your van is not equipped with the dvd player (I assumed it wasn't), there are 3 harnesses. One from the dvd player to the radio ($145.00), one from the radio to the a-pillar area ($150.00) and the one from the a-pillar to the screen ($250.00). they are all available and can be ordered seperatly

SKOL!!!

Thank you for the information Tizzy, it is much appreciated. That seems to be quite a spendy venture. Maybe an aftermarket unit would be the way to go. Ill have to check with my guys at the local electronics shop. Just out of curiosity, where did you find the information about that? I tried to google it, but I think I had way to detailed a description.

Thanks again,

Nakinaw

I think I answered my own question Tizzy. I was reading other threads in the caravan forum and I noticed that you have a lot of resourceful information. I checked out your profile and found out your a Dodge Mechanic. That would explain the resourcefulness. I appreciate your help and I am enjoying the threads.
