2002 Battery Light Keeps Comin On
I have an 02 Grand caravan with the 3.3 engine. I have replaced the battery and have put 2 after market alternators and now a Mopar. The cables are in good shape. After anywhere from 1 month to 8 months the battery light comes on and the alternator is not charging adequately or regulated. The computer shows no codes. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Check your battery temp sensor. It tells the PCM how fast to charge the battery depending on ambient air temp. If it's bad, the PCM may not be allowing the alternator to charge at a high enough rate to keep your battery up.
"The PCM incorporates a Battery Temperature Sensor on its circuit board.
The PCM uses the temperature of the battery area to control the charge system voltage. This temperature, along with data from monitored line voltage, is used by the PCM to vary the battery charging rate. The system voltage is higher at cold temperatures and is gradually reduced as temperature around the battery increases.
The ambient temperature sensor is used to control the battery voltage based upon ambient temperature (approximation of battery temperature). The PCM maintains the optimal output of the generator by monitoring battery voltage and controlling it to a range of 13.5 - 14.7 volts based on battery temperature.
The battery temperature sensor is also used for OBD II diagnostics. Certain faults and OBD II monitors are either enabled or disabled depending upon the battery temperature sensor input."

P1493 probs
Sorry I'm jumping in late, but I've got this similar problem. P1493 along with P0117(ect). This problem has been incremental over the past six months, starting with the engine abruptly shutting down while in gear and jolting the whole van and then coming right back after a second(showed P0117, P0134). Sometimes the CEL would come on, sometimes not, sometimes come on for a minute then go out. Most of the time after getting problem, I would check for codes and there wouldn't be any stored. Not having resources to see a dealer, I've used this forum to try just about everything I can to resolve problem, but it has progressed to this: Cold start, acts like not getting gas(checked fuel pressure-44psi), cranks fine, try again, starts very shaky until applying gas. Runs good for short period(fuel press.-49psi) and then stalls unexpectedly. Meanwhile, battery light, CEL are on and coolant temp guage is at minimum all the time. Again, sorry late, long reply.
