Hi I just bought a 1998 Caravan SE and noticed when I turn the cruise control on the check engine light immediately turns on. When I shut off the cruise, the check engine light goes off. I used the cruise control on a short distance and it works perfectly. Any idea why it turns on the check engine light?

No codes. My code reader advises the engine to be off while checking so I don't know how to turn cruise on while the engine is off. Is there a dash light that comes on when cruise is on? The only light that came on was check engine.

 

Yes, there is a lamp that says cruise. It is down in the black strip where the odometer and prndl is. Possible there is an issue with the printed circuit board or the bulb could be burnt out and back feeding through another bulb.
