Default 98 ES 3.8 vs 97 ES 3.8 Saving old Motor + Tranny

  1. Will 98 ES 3.8 tranny swap into 97 3.8 ES?
  2. Will 98 ES 3.8 Motor & Tranny swamp into 97 3.8 ES?
Wife wrecked the 98 ES..picked up a nice 97 ES 3.8 with 120k and well maintained. I understand these motors are slightly different 3.8 versions as per Dodge Wiki.

1996–1997 3.8 L EGH V6, 166 hp (124 kW)
1998–2000 3.8 L EGH V6, 180 hp (130 kW)

THing is, old tranny (98 ES) is factory new with like 80k on it, and motor was just rebuilt top & bottom... Thinking we should mothball motor/tranny for when 97 ES fails.

Opinions? Thanks in advance!

1. kind of, the torque converters are different
2. absolutely as a package... but IDK about the "SWAMP" part?
