Default 2000 caravan engine removal

I have a 2000 caravan 3.3L I am in the process of swaping the old engine out and was wondering if there was any way that the engine can come out from the top or does it have to come out from the bottom. Everywhere i look it is saying from the bottom but from what i am looking at it seems i could pull it out of the top???

I always pull these engines out the top. there's plenty of room. I found I had to remove the water pump and crank pulley for enough clearance. remove upper radiator support and remove hood and wiper module assembly. then it gets really easy. i didn't remove the radiator just the fans. leave A/C compressor in the van along with PS. I also pulled off the upper intake.

Post Engine removal

Thats great thanks. Noww how about the transmission can that stay or does it have to be unbolted to get the engine out?

your choice. I never saw any reason to pull the trans for an engine replacement in these vans. if you want to pull the engine with the trans then out the bottom is the best, but your post made it look like you just wanted to pull the engine.

No i don't want to take the transmission out i was hoping it could stay so that is great news. It seems the worst part is going to unbolt the tourque converter kind of tight under there??

torque converter bolts are the easiest thing of the job, I always hated having the messy stuff like cooling hoses. you'll want to remove the crank pulley for more clearance which requires a special puller. you can try without but I found the $50 I spent on the puller was well worth the cussing and fighting I went through on the first one.
