2000 Caravan
My fuel light sometimes comes on while I'm driving. Lately it is coming on and turning off with same time between on & off.
Sometimes when starting the Van the fuel gauge reads 0 and light is on steady.

Sometimes none of the above happen and all is normal.

Any thoughts?

The fuel sending unit is a variable resistor. Sometimes after old age sets in, the resistor will get a "bald" spot in it. This translates to Open Circuit. As much as the gas sloshes around, the float may bob up and down going back and forth across that dead spot.

Being that it is 10 years old, just replace the whole fuel pump assembly. The labor is the same for either.

 

Thanks TNtech. My maintenance manual indicated the Fuel Pump might be the problem. It suggested the gasket replacement.
I'll take your advice and change the entire pump.
