Transmission 'clunk' at 30mph

I had a trans "clunk" when comming to a stop when it was downshifting to first gear. It was caused by water getting in from the radiator into the transmission lines. This was on my 1998 grand caravan se AWD
The whole trans needed a rebuild and the bypassed the radiator and installed a trans cooler Cost $2600 on a $2400 van
Check the radiator for signs of trans fluid in it, or the transfluid dip stick for water

update
Update on the situation. Had the transmission rebuilt after the original post. Shop said that was the best bet after reviewing the receipts from what the Dodge dealer has done to me ($1100 six months prior). Rebuild was $1800 with 3 year 36K warranty.
Forward 18 months and 19K miles later. Same problem appears. CLunk at 30mph on decelerations. Same trans shop. Has the car one day. Reflashes computer. Problem solved again. No charge. Tech says common problem since 1980's and that whenever some says clunk on downshift they reflash computer to solve problem. Left me wondering why my first visit was $1800 for a rebuild.
Hmmmmm?
