2002 Grand Caravan Sport STARTING PROBLEM
I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan, a red dot on the dash board is staying on, which i know its a indecator for the car alarm, but when i try to start the van it shuts off right way, this happends five times in a row, then i try to start it up again for the sixed time the van wont start most times till an hour has passed and now it wont start up at all.
Voltage drop the starter with your ohmmeter place the pos lead of the meter to the power side and ground to ground on the starter itself with the meter in dc volts you can also do this to the starter power wire and ground to make sure you do not have excessive resistance btw you will need someone else to sit in the car and crank while your working the meter anything over .2v in the wires both pos and ground is out of spec.It sounds more like a faulty neutral safety switch or ignition module. When you crank excessively as you were saying, would open around 200amps the wires would get hot depending how long you hold the key in start position. So what you want to see is .2v or less when measuring the pos wire from battery to starter, around a 12v reading on starter, .2v or less from starter to ground if you see 0v on the starter the circuit is not closing if you see less then 12v on the starter(remember key must be turned to start for all 3 separate measurements) there's high resistance in the circuit somewhere.

I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan sport and I purchased a car lighter charger from a Circle K. When I plugged it in the stereo lights went out and the brake lights those eventually came back on but then my headlights started acting funny. One light would go out but I could click the brights and then that light would turn on and the other one would turn off so it's not a bulb. If I click the lights three times and hold it both lights will work normally. Then the other day I went to start my car and all the lights and speedometer wouldn't come on and the car won't start. It tries to start but it doesn't click over to the second part. Not sure what to do don't really have many people to ask and it's not something simple. I really have a feeling like it's an electrical issue because of all the problems I've had with my lights and stuff but I am hoping someone can lead me in the right direction. I just bought a new battery less than a month ago so I don't think it's the battery because the stereo and everything will turn on just not the dash or headlights and I cannot unlock the doors electronically anymore
