but maybe you broke #3 exhaust spring and when the cylinder is pumping air down the tailpipe the O2 is tellin the PCM to richen things up???
I would think youd get a definitve code for #3???

ok here is the downlow on what really happened the lifter was stuck I heard the ticking for quite a while but it stuck at the top so it was lifting the valve to much and broke the spring, the valve was not bent just a wrong direction on the diagnostic road. Still had to pull the head to replace the lifter of course.
