Similar problem with my 05 T&C. 3.3 85K. on it.
Whine is either from the PS pump or the Water pump.
Comes and goes. Warm or Cold. Loudest is inside the car.
May take off the belt to try to confirm today.
I took off the PS filter/reservoir yesterday. Fluid level was good.
And noticed the fluid is dark. Not the brite pink ATF+4 color.
There seemed to be no restrictions on either tube when I blew through it.

Want to flush it out, while changing the filter/reservoir.
Any suggestions on draining to get the max old fluid out?

Also a bit concerned on the Lucas recommended here. Will it play nice with the ATF+4 listed in my owners manual? I'll stick to spec's for now.

Similar issue on my 03 Grand Caravan. When cold, no sound or very minor, when just warming up sound is very loud especially on turns. After very warm (after say 45 min of driving) sound is mostly quiet again - although still there. This feels like the reservoir problem you guys have described to me based on that behavior... not sure. Curious what happened with the rest of you! I will try the Lucas product as well.

suck some fluid out of resivoir the replace with Lucas PS treatment, turn lock to lock a handfull of times to get it moving around in the system.

I have the same issue with the loud whining. What does "turn lock to lock a handful of times to get it moving mean".

Not to sound dumb. LOL

Turn the steering wheel as far as it goes in both directions a few times.

Talking

I used the Lucas PS treatment yesterday and WOW it doesn't make that noise anymore. I am so excited.

Thank you so much. I was just going to pay over $100 to have the power steering replaced.

Thanks.
