Desperate for help on 99 Dodge Caravan
I am working on a 99 Dodge Caravan, this van was given to my sister in law who has a very sick 3 week old baby. She needs it to drive from Cleveland to Cinicinati. I'm telling you this to express the urgancy to get this van fixed. The van is throwing a P1041 code, I ran it on the scanner and it says an o2 heater in bank 2? I'm a diesel guy, and I'm not very good with the gas motors. It's a 2.4 4cyl, only has 89k miles on it. What do I need to look for to fix this problem so it will pass the emmisions test and get plates for this van. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
There is no bank 2. There are 2 sensors. 1/1 and 1/2. 1/1 is in the exhaust manifold. 1/2 is after the catalytic converter.

Make sure you don't get a "universal" one where you have to splice wires to adapt to the harness. Ones that are plug and play are readily available.
You may be able to get an open end wrench in there to change it(from the bottom is how I did it) but if not, they do make a special socket that has a slot in it to accommodate the wires. It's less than $20 at a parts store.

If I'd replace an O2 sensor, I'd just cut the wire and use a box end wrench or deep socket. When installing, then use an open end or a line wrench. A factory service manual is the best source on how to diagnose along with some kind of scanner.
