Default 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, Helping To Move.

My wife and I have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 4.0 liter engine and stow a go seating. We are moving from South Carolina to Pennsylvania and want to use our van to move all the small items we can, clothes, shoes, kitchen items and so on, and on, and on. Can you tell me the max weight I can safely load in our van? I’m thinking the van will be loaded with around 500 to 600 pounds including my wife and I.

Thank you

From what I could find, the GVWR for this vehicle is 5700lbs. and the curb weight is 4483. that leaves you with 1217lbs for people and cargo. I just googled for this info and make no claims as to its accuracy. However I will tell you that I've put close to 1000lbs in my 97 with a 3.3 with no issues. The tires did squash more than I like though, but the van itself did just fine.

Thank you campdaddy, I think the very, very most we have in our van is 750 with my wife and I. Should be fine. Campdaddy, have you ever towed with your Van? We are thinking maybe some day getting the R-pod and do some camping. I would have to get the tow package added.

i moved up from Georgia to northern Virginia 2 years ago,
I had a probably around 500lbs(spread out, plus my big weight) in the van, and it did fine

in that load I had all the stuff that the movers would not take, plus any liquids
don't want them spilling in the truck on all my stuff

Another thing to help ease your mind is that these vans are designed to carry up to 7 people. If they VERY conservatively use 150lbs per person that still adds to 1050lbs. To answer your question, no I haven't towed with mine. I have camper (5300lbs) but I tow it with an '05 Hemi Durango. I have seen others tow PUP campers with a Caravan though. I would venture those are in the 2500-3000lbs range but don't take my opinion without checking out some camper web sites where they'll have much more info for you.
