Exclamation Fan will not shut off

I have a 2002 dodge caravan se with about 122k miles. About a month ago, the radiator fan stayed on when we turned off the van. For the time being, my husband has removed the fuse. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Can we do it ourselves?

A fairly common problem. The cooling fan relay is the likely culprit. Don't recall the exact location on an 02 but it's mounted in the area of the drivers side of the radiator down low on the frame or bumper support. Follow the wire harness back from the fans and you'll see it. May see it easier from under the van. Cost $30-$80 and yes you can change the relay. Spin the fans by hand (ignition off). If one or both are binding (small chance) it is likely burning out the relay. The fan assembly would be a bit more of a challenge unless your hubby is mechanically inclined.

The radiator fan relay is mounted to the front bumper reinforcement next to the left headlamp. It is attached using a 1/4 inch rivot.

Tizzy1 - Thanks for jumping in with that pic. I remember seeing it but couldn't remember where and what year it applied to. The years do take their toll.
