06 caravan sxt, bags deployed before bought van. what to look for to identify if there was any knee bag there before buying van. how can a person tell if there was any knee bag? i was told the knee bag was optional in the 05 to 07's.

 

You'll see a rectangle panel at the bottom of the knee bolster. A break out panel. Or you'll have a DTC for the squib being open. Is your Airbag light on? Yes, it was optional. I wouldn't buy that thing until I had someone scan the Airbag module. Even IF the light is not on, that doesn't mean anything.

 

I have no bags at all and appears need 3. there is know way i can buy three unless i can get one here and there at different times, as deals appear and when money comes in during different times. i will then learn to put them in myself, because of funds or should say lack of funds

Question: if i get the bags, over time, what can be done to ensure that the bags will be recognized by the srs module after getting it scanned?

Question: are the sensors in front reset by themselves after activiation.

You need to be calling salvage yards for these bags. Preferably from somewhere out west where rust doesn't happen so much. Buying them new will break you. Did the passenger side damage the dash? I don't believe that flap is part of the airbag. It's part of the dash if I remember correctly. As for the impact sensors, as long as there aren't trouble codes for them they are fine.

 

thanks for reply--i need as much info. as i can, but no way i can afford these dag gone bags, unless, and i mean unless i find a price that is really good. otherwise, i will try to cut the solder line that goes to the bag diode in cluster instrument panel and run a line from passenger air bag light that works well (on and then off) used for passenger seat to to the diode. i hope to keep my fingers crossed that it works.

QUESTION: has that been tried before by some reader out there, or informed person??

DASH--when i bought it the owner had sealed the flap back in place so there would be no visible lines. dodge vans don't have the seams on top, they put them below the dash.

QUESTION: van is set up for 3 bags, passenger, driver, knee. if i find used one with module, passenger and drivers (at best price in the world) then will not having a knee bag cause any problems

Don't forget about the seat belt pretensioners, they should have both fired off as well. They are part of the seat belt buckles
