I just purchased a 2010 Grand Caravan SXT 4.0L (4800 miles).

I went to my local Best Buy to see about having remote start added to the van, and they told me the dealer would have to add the factory remote start system since it uses the smart keys.

Can this actually be added by the dealer? Is it expensive? Involved?

I thought sice you got the sxt 4.0l you have the auto start with it? how many buttons on the remote? it should be the right one ( 2 bottom are auto doors left and right) left middle is the rear door and the right is the auto start. then up further close doors and then open and then panic.

 

I don't have the remote start function on my keyfob. It's just a blank there. I do have left/right door buttons, and back tailgate button, but not start.

 

well i not sure. try dealer. but too me i thought all 2010 sxt with 4.0l came with auto start.

 

I did alot of researching before settling on the van I got. If I recall correctly, on the lower SXT Crew trim (standard with 3.8L, 4.0L optional) the remote start was part of the 'Family Value Group' which included window shades and upgraded center console. My mother ended up buying an SXT Crew with only the 4.0L and towing package options... there is no remote start in her van.
